Summer vacation is probably the happiest time families spend together. In the tropics vacations are for as long as two months. A summer vacation is a time to relax and chill out, to get away from your regular routine and pamper yourself The purpose of the summer vacation are many. One is relaxation; whether parents or kids, fatigue has become a part of life. Work stress for adults and studies for students take their toll. So both need to recoup and rejuvenate. The second and more valid reason is to tide over the unbearable heat of the summer months. Travelling is a knowledge base too and what better way than a vacation at a resort?

It is necessary to plan a vacation so that it is time and money well spent. It is best to sit down and chalk things out. These days every individual has their own agenda and different pursuits.

If you want to drive down then there are many resorts near Pune too. These resorts are out of the usual travel itinerary and are less crowded. Running away from the city, the last thing you want is claustrophobic crowds or queues for a game of tennis! These resorts are nestled in verdant vales and have various activities lined up for all. The weather is fine even in the peak of summer and outdoor sports are top on the to -do list. It could be trekking, tennis, swimming or eve picnics at a water hole. It's a welcome break from the drudgery of cooking too, and there are well laid buffets to choose from.

Being just a three hour drive from the city, quality resorts near Nasik cater to weekend getaways and longer vacations. One way to drive away the blues is adventure sport. It is slowly coming of age in India, and young and old alike are giving in to the adventure bug. For the laidback, calm people the hammocks in the woods are the ideal place to relax in with a favorite book.

Resorts these days have individual, quaint cottages with a small pantry to cook in. Rooms still give an aloof feeling but the cottages have a warm home-like feel around them and are a home away from home. For fussy eaters, this is a good idea as you can churn up your own meals if you want to. Resorts also have day long sight-seeing trips. They arrange for a car or van and take you around the surrounding areas which are worth watching.
